| There were two groups in India Evangelical Lutheran Church, shortly IELC. One was under the leadership of Mr. K. Baul Sundar. The other was under the leadership of Rev. Y. Suvisesha Muthu.
The election of the Office Bearers of the IELC under the leadership of Rev. Y. Suvisesha Muthu was held on 26.05.2017, while the election of the other group led by Mr. K. Baul Sundar was held on 26.06.2017. Both the group approached the Court seeking to disqualify the election held by the other group. The Hon’ble High Court, Madras in the judgement delivered on 26.07.2018, disqualified the election held on 26.06.2017 by the Mr. K. Baul Sundar group. That is, the election of the Office Bearers of Mr. K. Baul Sundar group was declared by the High Court as illegal and invalid. In fact, Mr. K. Baul Sundar did not contest the election since he was convicted in a Criminal Case relating to the IELC. However, he led one of the groups.
