The India Evangelical Lutheran Church, shortly IELC, is a society registered under the TamilNadu Societies Registration Act in 1959. It was established in 1895 by Missouri Evangelical Lutheran India Mission, United States of America. It is purely a religious body. The 1959 IELC constitution and bye-laws have been amended on 10-02-2022 by registering the same in the office of Registrar of Societies, Central Chennai.

The Central Business Office, shortly CBO, of the IELC is at K.P. Road, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District, Tamilnadu.

The properties of the IELC vests with IELC Trust Association, a company registered under the Companies Act. The Office of the IELC Association is located in the same building where the CBO is situated.
