To
All the Bishops/Presidents of UELCI Constituent Member Churches
Dear Bishop/President/Moderator,
Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Hope you have received the communication from LWF regarding the New Application Phase for LWF Scholarships for 2025. Although LWF has sent the communication related to online registration, we, for various practical reasons, will continue to follow the old system until the applications are approved by the UELCI Scholarship Committee. Once this is approved by the member churches and then by the UELCI Scholarship Committee, we will go for the online procedure of LWF.
Each member church is eligible to apply for 7 scholarships, 5 for regular and 2 for short-term scholarships. 5 Regular scholarship applications for the period from 1 to 4 years and 2 short term for maximum 1 year.
– 5 regular scholarships include Group scholarship. A group consisting of 2 up to 10 persons pursuing the same field and level of training together for similar or common areas of engagement, and at a relatively lower cost.
– 2 Short-term scholarships which last up to 1 year provide church workers with specific skills and apply to the immediate daily work of the church/church related institutions. Short-term scholarships may include a training, online course, workshop, seminar, or research project related to leadership development, project management, gender awareness, food security, etc. Kindly encourage your church workers to make use of this short term scholarship.
· The last date to receive the filled in application (attached here) to UELCI is not later than 14th August 2024.
· Kindly adhere to the joint LWF gender and youth quota if more than one candidate is being proposed. This means that at least 40% of the proposed candidates must be female, and at least 20% must be below the age of 30. These quotas will apply overall for all the proposed candidates, as well as for each of the proposed areas of study (Theology and Diakonia).
· Kindly send by post one hard copy of the filled in application form and soft copy through email id: [email protected]
· Once it is approved by the UELCI Scholarship Committee (date will be informed later) the uploading of the application through an online process will start by each church/individual candidate.
Kindly remember these points and send the application form before the prescribed date.
Thanking you,
With kind regards,
Yours sincerely,
Rev. Dr. A. Joshuva Peter
Executive Secretary, UELCI & LWF National Committee (I)
